A 11-month-old girl died of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This was reported by Reuters on Sunday, April 12, citing the World Health Organization (WHO).
The child was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Beni, in the east of the country. According to the agency, the same medical facility where a 26-year-old man died of the same virus on April 10.
He was the first to be infected in the republic in 50 days. However, according to the agency, he had no contact with infected people. Also, doctors have ruled out a recurrence of the disease in the present deceased, as he hadn’t been previously infected with it.
The authorities planned to announce the end of the Ebola epidemic today, Sunday, but at the moment all forces of the state are aimed at fighting the new type of coronavirus. COVID-19 has been confirmed in 215 people, 20 have died. There is also an outbreak of measles in the DRC.
