17 people died trying to escape from a Venezuelan prison

The riots in the Venezuelan prison resulted in at least 17 deaths and nine other injuries. This was reported in the newspaper El Mundo on Saturday, May 2.

The incident occurred in Guanar in the northwestern part of the country, when prisoners broke the fence of the prison during a mass escape attempt.

It is specified that the prison director was also wounded. It is assumed that the number of casualties may increase.

On 24 April, a riot broke out at the Buenos Aires prison because of a new coronavirus infection, with 11 staff members injured. Later, the Argentine authorities agreed to end the riots with inmates.
