5.6 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Japan

Seismologists recorded an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 in the Pacific Ocean, 17 km east of Hitati in Ibaraki Prefecture, on Honshu Island in Japan. It is reported by the Altai-Sayan branch of the United Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The epicenter of fixed on May 11, earthquake had coordinates 36.60 degrees of northern latitude and 140.85 degrees of eastern longitude.

The earthquake is estimated as “very strong” by the intensity of the tremors in the epicenter.
