55 people died after being vaccinated against coronavirus in Austria

The number of deaths following vaccination against COVID-19 in Austria has risen to 55. A link between the deaths and the vaccination has not been established. This was reported by the Austrian Federal Office for Safety in Health (BASG) for the reporting period from December 27, 2020 to March 26, 2021.

During this period, Austria received more than 17,000 reports of possible side effects after the coronavirus vaccine. A total of about 1.5 million people were vaccinated.

“Fifty-five deaths shortly after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine (52 BioNTech/Pfizer, two Moderna, one AstraZeneca) were reported to the Federal Office for Health Safety,” the report states.

It is noted that 16 people were vaccinated during the incubation period of the coronavirus, from which they subsequently died. Twenty-three people had serious illnesses that could have resulted in death, and for four people the connection between death and vaccination was ruled out after an autopsy. Circumstances of death of other 12 people are being investigated.

Earlier, on March 24th, the Hong Kong authorities decided to suspend the use of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine. The decision was made after the Chinese distributor Fosun Pharma discovered defects in the caps of ampoules. The company together with the German pharmaceutical organization BioNTech, which participated in the development of the drug with Pfizer, is investigating the case.
