The 6.5 magnitude earthquake occurred Tuesday night in Boise, Idaho, but was felt by residents of the three states.
No injuries or damage have been reported so far.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake was located 117 kilometers northeast of Meridian, a town on the outskirts of Boise.
This is the most powerful earthquake in Idaho since 1983 when two people died as a result of tremors with a magnitude of 6.9 near Mount Bora Peak. The material damage was in the millions of dollars.
