915,000 fines were issued in France for violation of self-isolation

French police since the announcement of the quarantine in the country on March 17 have carried out about 15.5 million checks on citizens’ compliance with the regime of self-isolation, issued at least 915 thousand fines. This was reported on Thursday, April 23, by French Interior Minister Christophe Castanar on BFMTV.

He thanked the French, who have implemented measures to curb the spread of the disease, and praised the “example of majority behavior.

According to him, police officers should maintain a high level of control over compliance with self-isolation measures, rather than fine and “provide figures after that.

“In the medium term, we should not reopen the Schengen area,” Castanar added. The borders should be managed according to the epidemiological situation in neighboring countries, he said.
