A doctor named a product that lowers the level of “harmful” cholesterol

Consumption of whole-grain mustard can reduce the level of “harmful” cholesterol in the blood. These findings follow from the study of Dr. Ruth Fairchild of Cardiff Metropolitan University in the UK.

The specialist analyzed the health status of patients who consumed one teaspoon of whole-grain mustard daily for 12 weeks. As a result, Fairchild determined that of the 42 participants, 86 percent had significantly lower blood cholesterol levels.

In addition, an overall cholesterol drop of 10 percent was reported among participating patients between the ages of 40 and 70.

“This points to a promising downward trend for those at greater risk for heart disease, stroke and vascular dementia,” Express cited the text of the paper Tuesday, Nov. 15.
