A priest in Greece poured acid on metropolitans during a church trial

A priest poured acid on seven metropolitans during a church trial at the Petraki Monastery in Athens, where the Synod of the Hellenic Orthodox Church sits. This was reported Wednesday, June 23, by the Greek news agency AMNA.

According to the agency, the 37-year-old priest was arrested; the man did not explain his motives. Police sources said the priest, who belongs to the diocese of Veria, was allegedly involved in a drug case.

The injured priests, as well as the policeman who tried to protect them, were hospitalized and their condition is not threatened.
