A tsunami hit the coast of Japan

Tsunami struck the coast of Japan. This is reported by the Japan Times on January 15.

According to the newspaper, the waves struck the Japanese coast just minutes after the warning was issued by the Japanese Meteorological Agency.

Journalists note that the arrival of tsunami waves is confirmed in areas along the coast from Tohoku to Okinawa.

Earlier the Japanese Meteorological Administration reported that the country has declared a tsunami threat up to three meters high. It was noted that a threat warning was in effect for the Japanese islands of Amami and Tokara. According to the meteorological department, waves up to one meter high could reach the entire Pacific coast of Japan.

Also on Saturday, a tsunami threat was declared in the Kuril Islands after the eruption of an underwater volcano off the Tonga Islands.
