Dutch Finance Minister Vopke Hookstra said on public television that the French-Dutch airline Air France may not survive the crisis. The official believes that the corporation will have to significantly reduce costs in the near future.
Earlier France and the Netherlands provided financial assistance to the carrier. The companies allocated the amount of €10.4 billion. Air France incurred losses of €2.6 billion only in the second quarter of the year.
The company was hit by the coronavirus pandemic. In the next two years, the company plans to reduce 7.5 thousand employees, but the carrier has not yet managed to reach an agreement with the unions.
