Alan Merrill died of the coronavirus

American musician Alan Merrill, who wrote the famous song I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll, died at the age of 70 in New York City from a disease caused by the new coronavirus. This was reported by the daughter of the musician Laura Merrill on her Facebook page.

“The coronavirus took the life of my father,” she wrote, calling on Americans to take serious action against the coronavirus.

“Stay home. “If not for yourself, for others. For my father’s sake,” the woman said.

I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll was written by Alan Merrill in 1975 when he played with the British rock band Arrows. The song became world-famous in 1982, when American rock singer Joan Jett recorded a cover for it. The new version reached the first line of the Billboard Hot 100 hit parade and held its position for seven weeks.
