Alexei Navalny was detained at Moscow’s Shermetyevo Airport after arriving from Berlin. The Pobeda plane with the opposition leader on board was supposed to land at Vnukovo, but was rerouted to another airport at the last moment due to “technical reasons. At the border control, the police officers approached him and asked him to go with them.
Apparently, Navalny was detained at the request of the Federal Penitentiary Service. The agency’s press service officially notified the oppositionist of his detention. “Navalny’s further measure of restraint will be determined by the court, until the court decision, he will be held in custody,” the Federal Penitentiary Service said in a statement.
