Alligator attacked cyclist in Florida

A resident of Florida in the U.S. was attacked by an alligator during a man’s bicycle ride this morning, July 19. It was reported by the NY Daily News, citing the press service of regional law enforcement agencies.

The incident occurred at Halpatioki Regional Park in Stuart, near West Palm Beach, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said. Police clarified that a helicopter arrived on the scene to evacuate the victim.

The man was reportedly attacked by a female alligator nearly 2.5 meters long. The reptile was captured along with another alligator.

According to alligator hunter John Davison, the victim was seriously injured because he frightened the animal by falling directly on him because of an unfortunate maneuver on a steep curve. As a result, he said, the terrified predator bit the cyclist “two or three times.”
