An American was detained for visiting closed Disney World

Policemen detained a man on an abandoned “Discovery Island” in Disney World, Florida, who snuck in despite being quarantined, Newsweek reports.

According to the newspaper, 42-year-old Richard McGuire from Alabama was detained on Thursday, April 30.

The policeman explained that he was unaware of the illegality of his actions. According to the man, he snuck into the “Island of Discovery” because it was abandoned. McGuire said he had been on the island since Monday or Tuesday and planned to stay there for a week.

The man was charged with trespassing and banned from visiting Disney landmarks.

“Island of Discovery” Disney World has been closed to visitors since 1999. However, all Disney parks have been closed indefinitely since 16 March this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

On May 2, it was reported that in Moscow, an intruder of the self-isolation regime imposed in connection with the coronavirus attacked a police officer.
