Law enforcement officers in Moldova discovered an underground helicopter assembly shop, which, according to the investigation, was illegally sold in the CIS.
“During the search of production lines, more than 10 helicopters have been found today at various stages of readiness. Production was carried out without the necessary permits and documents on the origin of parts and equipment,” the supervisory authority said.
It is stated that the assembly was carried out in one of the settlements of Kriulansky district. Aircraft were manufactured according to the type with Soviet-made models of Ka-26.
The prosecutor’s office noted that the process was set up by an organized group of people from Transnistria. A criminal case was opened against them on the fact of preparation for the smuggling of the helicopters. Moldovan legislation provides for a penalty of 3 to 10 years’ imprisonment for this. Law enforcers continue to search and collect evidence.
