Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate have initiated a new investigation against President Donald Trump. It concerns the dismissal of several officials, including State Department inspector Steve Linick, Reuters reports.
The congressmen’s statement says they are “against politically motivated dismissal”. According to the two Democrats, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo personally recommended Trump to fire Linick, as he “began investigating Pompeo’s own crimes. It is also known that Linik testified in the case of Trump’s impeachment.
Among other things, the congressmen believe that the president is trying to remove all officials who can exercise supervision over his administration by dismissal.
