Apple plans to start producing electric cars

The U.S. corporation Apple will start producing its own electric cars in 2024. This was reported on Thursday, September 2, portal Digitimes, citing sources.

According to their information, Apple representatives will visit Asian suppliers and automakers to prepare for the mass production of electric cars. In this case, as noted, special attention may be paid to the supply of transport batteries.

In June, Reuters reported that Apple is in talks with Chinese companies Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) and BYD for the supply of batteries for electric cars.

In February, South Korea’s DongA.com revealed details of an agreement between Apple and one of the largest automakers, Kia (part of the Hyundai Motor Group). The publication claimed that Apple would invest about $3.6 billion in the joint project.

However, in the same month it became known that the manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover by 2030 plans to abandon the production of cars with gasoline and diesel engines. The company, as it was specified, wants to focus only on the production of electric cars.
