Apple released iOS 13.6. Now the iPhone can be the car key

Apple released an update of iOS to version 13.6, which includes one of the most interesting features of the system. Now you can use your iPhone or Apple Watch as a key to your car.

NFC technology is used, and a car profile is added to the Wallet app. One of Apple’s first partners is BMW: the restyled version of BMW 5 series already supports this system, and it will be extended to the entire model range of the Bavarian brand.

Users can open or close the car, as well as “balloon” it to other drivers and set limits for them – for example, set a speed limiter. To use this technology you need an iPhone XR/XS, Apple Watch Series 5 or newer. Remarkably, even after it’s completely discharged, the iPhone can be unlocked and started within five hours – all thanks to its special energy-saving mode.

Other innovations in iOS 13.6 include an expanded list of symptoms in the Health app, removing digital keys from lost devices via iCloud and bug fixes.
