Apple will remove all hints of racism from the code

Apple intends to completely remove fragments from developer product code that may be interpreted as hints of racism and generally do not meet the paradigm of “inclusive language”. To all appearances, it is a question of both comments and specific program code where there are words which have become unpopular now.

In fact, the process has already started (and touched upon the beta versions of iOS 14, iPadOS 14, macOS Big Sur, watchOS 7 and tvOS 14, as well as documentation), it was announced earlier, but Apple plans to increase the pace.

For example, blacklist and whitelist will be replaced by deny list and allow list; master will become main, slave will also disappear (you can use secondary, client, replica depending on the context) as well as master branch. The word Black is now capitalized when it comes to humans.

Potentially racist words and expressions will be removed from Xcode, the API, documentation, and opposor projects. Details are published in a special guide.
