Armenia declares readiness to use long-range weapons

Armenian armed forces are ready to use long-range weapons in response to Azerbaijan’s use of heavy flamethrower systems. Press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan said this on September 29.

According to her, Azerbaijan is using large caliber weapons, including TOS-1A and Smerch systems. Their use “changes the logic and volume of combat operations,” Stepanyan stressed.

“In this regard, the Defense Ministry warns that the Armenian Armed Forces will be forced to use large-diameter weapons capable of destroying personnel, mobile and stationary property in large areas.

Earlier that day, the Azerbaijani armed forces shelled a military unit in Vardenis (Armenian territory). Baku said that Dashkesan district was under artillery fire from Vardenis. In Yerevan, this information was called a fake, which Azerbaijan intentionally spread to justify its attack.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan is continuing its offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh. In Stepanakert in the morning, an air alarm was sounded and no attack followed. Later, spontaneous evacuation of the residents began.
