Armenia demanded ECtHR to take measures against Turkey because of Karabakh

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) received a request from Armenia to take action against Turkey because of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The Court received a request from Armenia under Rule 39 (ECtHR Regulations – Ed.) against Turkey,” the agency was told.

Earlier, on September 27, Armenia had already applied to the ECtHR with the demand to oblige Azerbaijan to stop bombing civilian objects in Nagorno-Karabakh. The court decision noted that the situation in Karabakh may lead to the risk of violations of the Convention on Human Rights.

In order to prevent such violations and in accordance with Rule 39 of the Rules of Court, the ECtHR asked Azerbaijan and Armenia to refrain from taking any measures, in particular military actions, that could lead to violations of the rights of the civilian population guaranteed by the Convention, including threats to their life and health.
