The Defense Army of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) shot down another Su-25 attack aircraft of the Azerbaijani Air Force. This was stated by Colonel Garik Movsesyan, Deputy Commander of the Air Defense Forces of the Armenian Military Forces during a press conference. Aysor agency broadcasts on October 15.
“Before the press conference we received information that another Azerbaijani Su-25 has been destroyed,” the military chief said.
This is not the first time the Armenian Defense Ministry reports about the destruction of Azerbaijani Su-25 bomber aircraft. In its turn, the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan periodically refutes these reports.
Thus, on October 1 representative of Armenian Defense ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan noted that three planes, two helicopters and six drones of Azerbaijan were destroyed that day.
On October 5 the press secretary of Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan wrote on her Facebook page that on October 1 Armenian military serviceman Arsen Margaryan shot down two Su-25 planes of Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
The Armenian Defense Ministry reported about two more shootings of Su-25 of Azerbaijani Air Force on October 12 and 14.
Agreement on ceasefire in the region was concluded on October 9 following the results of negotiations held in Moscow on the initiative of the Russian side. Baku and Yerevan agreed on ceasefire from 12:00 local time of the next day for humanitarian purposes for exchange of prisoners and bodies.
However, after some time the defense ministries of Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of shelling again.
The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh escalated on September 27. Baku and Yerevan, which disputed the region’s ownership, laid the responsibility for escalating the conflict on each other.
