At least 230 people were affected by the explosion of a chlorine tank in Iran

At least 230 people were poisoned by a chlorine tank explosion in western Iran, Mehr News Agency reported Friday, September 4.

Authorities previously reported 120 injured residents, at least 106 of whom were hospitalized.

“The overall condition of all but 6 people suffering from asthma is assessed as favorable and one person is hospitalized in the intensive care unit,” said Mojtaba Khaledi of Iran’s emergency services.

The incident occurred earlier that day in Zangira, Ilam province. According to ISNA, the balloons were in the back of a truck and one of them exploded during transportation.
