China and the US must find a way to coexist peacefully, despite differences in systems and cultures. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the annual press conference on Sunday, May 24.
“China has no intention to change or replace the U.S., it’s time for the U.S. to stop trying to change China.
The Minister emphasized that as the largest developing and largest developed country, China and the United States have a special responsibility for global peace and development.
“We have learned that some U.S. political forces are exacerbating relations between China and the U.S. and are bringing both countries to the brink of the Cold War,” the Chinese Foreign Minister quoted NDTV.
On the eve, the U.S. Department of Transportation accused the Chinese authorities of creating obstacles for U.S. airlines to fly to China.
Earlier, on May 23, the U.S. Department of Commerce blacklisted 24 Chinese organizations for activities that are contrary to the interests of American national security.
The trade confrontation between the two countries began in July 2018. Then Washington imposed duties of 25% on imports of 818 types of Chinese goods for a total amount of $34 billion a year. Beijing adopted mirror measures. Later on, the parties repeatedly introduced new duties.
The agreement on the first phase of the trade deal was signed by the parties in Washington on January 15. In particular, China agreed to increase purchases of American products by $76.7 billion during the first year and by $123.3 billion during the second year of the agreement.
