Beijing urged WHO to look for sources of coronavirus origin not only in China

The World Health Organization (WHO) should send special missions to find the origin of coronavirus to other countries as well. This opinion was expressed on Wednesday, July 8, by an official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Zhao Lijian.

“Looking ahead a little, there may be a need for similar missions to be sent to other countries and regions of the world,” Lijian said.

The day before, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Gebrejesus said WHO would send representatives to China to establish the source of coronavirus.

Last week, Tom Jefferson, a senior researcher at the Oxford Centre for Evidence Medicine, said the coronavirus was most likely not created in Chinese Wuhan laboratories but was in nature long before it became active.
