During the meeting with the members of the Security Council, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the country’s military command had deployed combat units on the western borders of the republic and brought them to full operational readiness. This was reported by BelTA on Tuesday, August 18.
According to the Belarusian leader, recently “there have been statements by representatives of Western countries, including the leaders of some states, which do not know where Belarus is at all.
“And thank God that we have responded to that (to the statements. – Ed.) and deployed combat units of our army on the western borders of our border, bringing them to full alert,” he said.
Lukashenko added that the head of the Ministry of Defense presented him a report, which stated that “the relevant units are now ready to fulfill their obligations.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Belarusian Defense Ministry reported on the beginning of scheduled flights of aviation near the state border.
August 15, Lukashenko expressed concern about the exercises of NATO forces in Poland and Lithuania. He ordered to move the airborne brigade from Vitsebsk to Hrodna due to the tense situation on the western borders.
