BLM activist hospitalized after shooting in London

British Black Lives Matter activist and Taking the Initiative (TTIP) politician Sasha Johnson is in critical condition after being shot in the head in London, the political force said in a Facebook post on May 24.

“It is with great sadness that we report that Sasha Johnson was brutally attacked and sustained a gunshot wound to the head. She is currently hospitalized and in critical condition,” the statement reads.

Police responded to reports of shootings in southeast London around 3 a.m. local time on Sunday, May 23. Medics transported Johnson to a hospital in the south of the city. According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred near a house party in Southwark.

The activist’s party claimed that Johnson had received repeated threats. A friend of the victim, Imarn Ayton, reported that the perpetrator or perpetrators fired from the street at the company gathered in the garden of a private home.

However, London police do not yet consider the incident to be a targeted attack.

In April, members of the Black Lives Matter movement against police violence and racism threw fireworks at police during protests in Washington.
