British billionaire Richard Branson contracted the coronavirus

British billionaire Richard Branson, who founded the Virgin Group Corporation, has fallen ill with a new “Omicron” strain of coronavirus. The businessman announced this on his Twitter page.

Branson added that he would not be able to personally join his team at the start of trading at the exchange – the billionaire will take part in the event remotely.

January 5, it became known that Polish President Andrzej Duda has fallen ill with coronavirus for the second time. The first time the head of the country was infected in October 2020.

On January 3, a new strain of coronavirus was detected in France. According to preliminary reports, it was detected in a man returning from Cameroon. Also, 12 people in the south of the country were infected with a previously unknown mutation of the coronavirus. The new mutation is now called B.1.640.2 – its danger level has not yet been identified. The World Health Organization is currently tracking the new strain.
