Britney Spears accused her father of extorting money

TMZ: Britney Spears claims her father is extorting money to give up custody.

American singer Britney Spears claims her father has long been ready to give up custody of her and is instead demanding two million dollars in back pay, TMZ reports.
The publication cites legal documents that reporters were able to review. Spears’ attorneys claim that her father is demanding two million dollars to give up custody, but the singer insists that he’s been ready for this decision for a long time and is only extorting money. The lawsuit is expected to continue in late September.

The 39-year-old singer is trying to remove custody from her father, James Spears, who has controlled most aspects of his daughter’s life since 2008, when the court granted custody amid the singer’s psychological problems. Specifically, Jamie Spears has complete control over all of the money his daughter earns and all of her financial decisions. In addition, all decisions about Britney Spears’ performances, recordings, tours, shows and even personal meetings are also made by her father. Finally, the singer is forced to pay for her father’s expenses, including attorneys’ fees, which require her to maintain her custody regime.

The singer has previously claimed that her father is abusing her custody rights. The court allowed her to hire her own attorney.
