17 people were killed and six injured when a bus fell into a gorge in Patas province in northern Peru, Radio RPP reported Thursday, June 10.
It is noted that the bus went off the road and fell from a height of 200 meters. There were 33 people on board, including children. The victims were sent to hospitals.
Regional Transportation Manager Edith Chuko suggested that poor road conditions in the area may have caused the accident. He added that an investigation is currently underway at the scene.
“At this point, the bodies are still being lifted, police are still investigating. We’re checking with inspectors, we sent a team to the area,” Chuko said.
