Cherpin motorcycle racer died of injuries at Dakar rally

French motorcycle racer Pierre Charpin died of injuries received at the stage of the “Dakar” rally-marathon in Saudi Arabia. The death of the sportsman was reported on the page of his team Heros des Belles-Motos in Facebook.

The 52-year-old Cherpen had an accident on January 10 at the seventh stage of the Dakar. The motorcycle racer received a serious head injury in a fall. He was hospitalized in an emergency and medics put the patient in an induced coma.

“Rest in peace in that immense sense of freedom that so attracted you and forged your identity,” the rider’s team wrote in a message. According to the team, the man died aboard the medical helicopter that took him to France.

In the summer of 2020, British motorcycle racer Ben Godfrey, 25, died in an accident at the No Limits Trackdays event. The race was held in the English suburbs of Leicester.
