“Child’s Play” screenwriter John Lafia killed himself

The scriptwriter of the original horror film “Child’s Play” John Lafia committed suicide in Los Angeles at the 64th year of life. This was reported on May 2, the publication Variety.

“We are devastated to learn of the death of our friend John Lafia. “He was an important part of Chucky’s family from the beginning. He co-authored the original “Child’s Play” script <…> and made “Children’s Games 2″, the favorite movie of fans of the series,” said director and screenwriter Don Mancini.

In addition, Lafia was involved in work on the last part of the franchise about the doll Chucky, which was released in 2019.

John Lafia was born in 1957 and received a bachelor’s degree in film and television from the University of California. For his work on “Child’s Play,” he was nominated for the American Saturn Film Awards in 1990.
