Convict for espionage Paul Whelan changed his place of imprisonment

The U.S. Embassy in Russia said that Moscow had failed to notify Washington about the transfer of Paul Whelan from Lefortovo to another detention facility.

The American was convicted in Russia for espionage and sentenced to 16 years in prison. Paul Whelan was transferred from the detention facility to Colony 18 in Mordovia. As stated by the American lawyer, negotiations on his exchange for one of the Russians continue, but the American side is not actively involved in them.
