Court denied Roger Stone a new trial

Federal court dismissed Roger Stone’s request for a new trial. Recall that last fall, 67-year-old Stone was found guilty of giving false testimony to Congress and manipulating witnesses.

Stone attempted to secure a new trial on the grounds that the chairperson of the jury at the time of jury selection had provided false information.

The President has repeatedly criticized the Stone trial, with which he has a longstanding friendship. The case was initiated as a result of an investigation by Special Prosecutor Robert Muller into Russia’s interference in the elections.

The jury admitted that Stone gave Congress false information about his conversations with members of Trump`s campaign headquarters regarding attempts to obtain from WikiLeaks discrediting information about Hillary Clinton.
