Death toll from flooding in western Germany rises to 42

Heavy rains and the resulting devastating flooding have killed 42 people in Germany. This was reported by AFP with reference to the police.

Earlier it was spoken about at least 33 dead.

According to the publication Focus Online, the bodies of the dead were found in different locations in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. As a result of the disaster at least 70 people were injured and dozens of citizens are still missing.

The disaster seriously damaged the local infrastructure: in the city of Hagen several bridges were destroyed and the servers were out of order. Rivers burst their banks, causing flooding in the west and southwest of Germany.
