Deltacron strain appeared due to laboratory error, WHO says

The new strain should not be called deltacron because of a misconception about the nature of its origin, according to Maria van Kerkhove, head of emergency medicine at the World Health Organization. She confirmed that the noted virus type was very likely derived from sample contamination during sequencing.

A new species COVID-19 was discovered by Dr. Leotios Kostrikis. He stated that the strain, dubbed deltacron, is a combination of the two most dangerous types of delta and omicron, which is why it is so named. However, the new type of coronavirus was not everyone’s panic, since its original origin already implied two strains that have been studied and treated with relative efficacy.
