Former all-round world boxing champion Marvin Hagler died

American boxer and former outright middleweight world champion Marvin Hagler has passed away at the age of 66. It was announced by his wife Kay Hagler on his official fan club Facebook page on Saturday, March 13.

“Sorry for the sad announcement. Today, sadly, my beloved husband Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home in New Hampshire (U.S. – Ed.). Our family asks that our privacy be respected during this difficult time,” the announcement reads.

Nothing is known about the cause of the boxer’s death at this time.

Marvin Hagler was one of the best middleweight boxers in history. He was undisputed world champion from 1980 to 1987. In all, Hagler fought 67 fights on the professional ring, 62 of them ended with wins (52 KOs), three losses and two draws.

He decided to end his career after he lost 1987 by split decision to Sugar Ray Leonard.
