Former French President Valery Giscard d’Estaing was hospitalized in Paris, Le Parisien newspaper reported on September 14.
The report specifies that 94-year-old Giscard d’Estaing was sent to the hospital of Georges Pompidou in the 15th district of the capital.
According to the newspaper, the former head of state complained about breathing problems. He was hospitalized in the intensive care unit with a pulmonary infection.
His son, Louis Giscard d’Estaing, said that he had talked to his father the night before and, according to him, the politician did not complain at the time.
Right-centerist Valerie Giscard d’Estaing was the president of France from 1974 to 1981. He ran for a second term, but in the second round of elections he lost to socialist Francois Mitterrand.
