Former head of Armenian NSS is detained on suspicion of preparation of Pashinyan’s murder

Former head of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan has been detained on suspicion of preparing for the assassination of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and usurpation of power. Vanetsyan’s lawyer Lusine Sahakyan announced this on Saturday, November 14.

“Today Vanetsyan was invited to the investigation department of the National Security Service and was detained on suspicion of committing acts under the articles “complicity in illegal acquisition, sale, storage of weapons”, “preparation of usurpation of power”, “preparation of murder of a state, political or public figure committed by a group of people by prior conspiracy”.

On November 12 Vanetsyan was detained on suspicion of organizing and holding an assembly with violation of law, as well as violation of restrictions during martial law, which led to serious consequences. However, on the same day he was released.

The next day, on November 13, Vanetsyan was again called to the special investigation service.
