Four-time ball hockey champion Roman Geisel committed suicide

Former Russian national hockey team goalkeeper Roman Geisel was found dead in Kemerovo. As reported on Wednesday, April 28, by the newspaper “Soviet Sport,” the 40-year-old hockey player committed suicide.

Reasons for the incident are not specified.

Geisel was born in Kemerovo in 1981. Almost his entire career played for the local Kuzbass. As a member of this club he not once won the championship of Russia, as well as twice won the Cup of the country in 2003 and 2007.

Playing for the national team he won the World Championships four times in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011. In addition, Geisel was twice recognized as the best goalkeeper of the season in 2005 and 2011.
