France will introduce curfews in 38 more departments due to COVID-19

The French authorities extended the curfew to 38 departments and to French Polynesia. This was stated by Prime Minister Jean Castex during his speech on Thursday, October 22.

According to him, the measure will last six weeks, it will be impossible to go out on the streets without a valid reason from 21:00 to 6:00, said the TV channel BFM.TV. The restriction will take effect at midnight from Friday to Saturday.

According to Castex, the incidence rate in France has been 251 per 100,000 people over the past seven days, indicating a 40% increase in new coronavirus cases.

“The coming weeks will be tough,” he admitted.

On October 12 it became known that the president of French Polynesia Edouard Fritch, who met in Paris with the president of France Emmanuel Macron, fell ill with coronavirus. The state of policy does not cause fears of doctors.

According to data of Worldometers portal as of October 22, in total 957 421 cases of coronavirus were registered in France, 34 048 patients died.
