French Prosecutor’s Office Demands 6 Months in Prison for Sarkozy

The charges in the trial of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who is suspected of exceeding the amount of funding for his campaign in 2012, the prosecution spoke. According to BFM TV, the prosecutor’s office demanded six months in jail and a fine of 3,750 euros for the former president of the Elysee Palace.

Sarkozy, who the day before was very emotional in the courtroom in Paris (for which he was even reprimanded), categorically denied his involvement in dishonest financial reporting and concealing expenses. He called these accusations “fairy tales” which he would never believe as a man who has spent forty years in politics and knows the “kitchen” of election campaigns.
