G20 leaders teleconference to be held on March,26




Extraordinary summit of G20 leaders on the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the world is to be held on March 26 in the format of a videoconference. This was reported by Kyodo agency with reference to sources in the Japanese government.

It is noted that coordination work has already begun, the conference will be held in the evening by Japanese time (day in Russia and Europe).

March 20 it became known that the summit of the “G20” will be held in online format at the initiative of the presiding country – Saudi Arabia. This will be the first experience of the G20 meeting by video link. The main topic of the upcoming G20 summit will be measures to combat the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

An outbreak of COVID-19 pneumonia caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus occurred in Wuhan, China in late December. Outside China, the disease has been diagnosed in patients in more than 180 countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared a coronavirus pandemic on 11 March.

According to Worldometer, there are more than 378.8 thousand people sick in the world, more than 16.5 thousand died. About 102,000 people have recovered so far.
