George Martin revealed that the Game of Thrones book finale will be different from the TV series

Writer George Martin promised that the ending of the book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” will be different from the ending of the “Game of Thrones” series. The author himself did not expect the show’s creators to go in a different direction.

Martin talked about his work in a new interview. The writer admitted that he didn’t expect the pace at which the series was being filmed to be so fast – even though five books had already been written at the time of the premiere.

“When they started making the series, I already had four books in print, and the fifth came out just as the show was starting in 2011. I had the advantage of five books, and voluminous ones at that, as you know. I never thought they would catch up with me, much less overtake me. But they did.”

Martin added that as the show was being produced, he felt the creators were going in a different direction. Fans can expect a different ending in the books – which one, the writer has not yet hinted.

The series ended in 2019. Many fans did not like its finale, so fans are waiting for the books to learn more about the fate of the characters. The writer has promised that a sequel will come out soon – he is still working on the book.

“I’ve been writing stories about Westeros and the people who live there, about the Seven Kingdoms, since 1991. I love telling these stories, and there’s a lot more to tell.”
