German scientists warned of the second and third waves of the coronavirus

The world may face new waves of coronavirus infection. This forecast was shared on Tuesday, May 5, at a press conference by the head of the Robert Koch Lothar Wheeler Institute of Virology in Berlin.

“I come from the fact – and this is confirmed by experts that there will be a second and third wave of spread of infection,” – quotes Wheeler.

He noted that Germany’s healthcare system is ready for potential outbreaks of infection.

“We have done a lot for that. Doctors now know how to deal with patients. We will have the best therapeutic tools,” Wheeler assured.

In particular, he added that the German authorities plan to increase the number of tests for coronavirus. According to him, more than 130 laboratories in the country can do more than 140,000 tests per day.

In late April, the representative of the World Health Organization in Russia, Melita Vuinovich, said that a second wave of coronavirus in the world is inevitable. The reason for this prediction lies in the presence of immunity to the virus in a small layer of the population.

On April 19 academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Nedospasov specified that the second wave of coronavirus distribution is possible provided that the vaccine is not developed.
