Germany starts selling sweets in the shape of Merkel’s head

Germany began selling sweets in the form of the head of Chancellor Angela Merkel, who will soon leave office. About this on September 15 reports Reuters.

Producer of marzipan with its products in the form of Merkel’s head wants to make a souvenir for all fans of the Chancellor. It is specified that the candy can be stored for up to two years.

“This is a souvenir for fans or not fans of Angela Merkel, who is out and has completed her service. And so we hope that one person or another will put it somewhere at home,” said Thomas Zuber, manager of Odenwaelder Marzipan.

The confectionery, which makes marzipan, has been in operation for more than 40 years and still uses manual skills. The plan is to produce a total of about 500 Merkel head candies.

Earlier, on Sept. 7, Merkel spoke at a plenary session of the Bundestag, the last before the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Merkel’s speech lasted 14 minutes. During the session, the German Chancellor spoke about combating climate change, development of “green” energy, as well as counteraction to terrorism and cybercrime. At the same time, Merkel noted the importance of vaccination, and urged citizens to undergo this procedure.

In addition, the German Chancellor supported Christian Democratic and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) candidate Armin Lachet. The newspaper specifies that Merkel was attacked by MPs in this connection.
