British actor Sir Ian Hill, who played Bilbo Baggins in “Lord of the Rings”, died at the age of 89. About this on Friday, June 19, wrote The Guardian with reference to his agent.
“It is with deep sadness that I report that actor Ian Hill died this morning at age 88,” he said.
The cause of death was complications of Parkinson’s disease.
According to the agent, the actor died painlessly in the hospital, in the presence of his family members. Hill spent his last days in London, and his wife, painter Sophie de Stample, captured them in a series of portraits by a pastel.
Born Hill in 1931 in the British city of Goodmais. In 1950 he entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. His most popular roles were Vito Cornelius’ father in The Fifth Element, Bilbo Baggins in Lord of the Rings and Ash in Alien.
