IMF has recorded the first time in history a global economic freeze

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the world economy has practically stopped, said Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, on April 3.

According to her, now the recession is worse than during the 2008-2009 crisis.

“We have never seen the world economy stop in IMF history. “We’re in a recession, it’s much worse than the global economic crisis.”

In this regard, Georgieva noted that the IMF is ready to use its entire $1 trillion reserves.

In late March, American investment bank JPMorgan said that the global economy is in recession, the depth of which may be unprecedented.

However, analysts have suggested that the shock to global GDP, although it will be extremely strong, but will not last long. The condition for this is to resolve the situation with the coronavirus pandemic as soon as possible.
