The Turkish police found in consulate general of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul certain proofs that the Saudi journalist Gamal Khashoggi was killed exactly there, transfers ARE with reference to an unnamed source and without specifying what proofs are.
Police officers together with representatives of local prosecutor’s office and specialists in fight against terrorism carried out nine-hour searches in the territory of the Saudi diplomatic mission. During the investigative actions a number of analyses was carried out, including soil samples from a gekonsulstvo garden are collected, Interfax with reference to the Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah tells.
“The body of the gone journalist Gamal Hashkadzhi was dismembered after he was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul two weeks ago”, – reported later on Tuesday to CNN TV channel the Turkish official source.
On this background the consul general of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul Muhammad Ibrahim al-Uteybi took off on October 16 for Riyadh, TASS with reference to Haber Turk TV channel reports. After departure of the consul general the Turkish investigators began survey of his residence in Istanbul within investigation of disappearance of Khashoggi, transferred the Turkish TV channel N-TV.
At the same time the Turkish foreign minister Mevlyut Chavushoglu said ARE that the Saudi authorities did not do any recognitions about the participation in Khashoggi’s disappearance. Also in Ankara did not obtain information that the journalist could die during interrogation in the Saudi Consulate General in Istanbul, Chavushoglu added.
The French foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that “if these alleged serious actions receive confirmations, then it will cause consequences”. He noted that France and other countries insist on “the maximum clarity of what occurred”, Interfax tells.
On October 16 the American TV company CNN reported that the authorities of Saudi Arabia are going to recognize the death of the journalist in the course of interrogation in diplomatic mission which had to lead to its stealing from Turkey and secret delivery home, but “went not so”. The Reuters agency told that to accuse Riyadh of the death of the journalist there is nobody the employee of the Saudi intelligence.
The U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Saudi Arabia with “tough punishment” if it becomes clear that the journalist was killed in the territory of consulate, and the European allies demanded to provide “reliable investigation” and to make guilty persons responsible.
