The fire on board could not be extinguished for 20 hours
The Iranian Navy’s auxiliary ship Hark sank in the Gulf of Oman, Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday.
The ship sank near the port of Hark. There was a fire on board and they tried to extinguish it for 20 hours.
Attempts were unsuccessful and the vessel sank. The crew was evacuated to dry land, no injuries were sustained.
The Hark was built in the UK. It had been used by the Iranian military for over 40 years. The ship was considered the largest by tonnage in the Iranian Navy.
